Eco-efficiency

The System extends the life cycle of materials like plastic, reduces the extraction of fossil-based natural resources and prevents empty packaging from being inadequately disposed.

According to the most recent eco-efficiency study conducted by the Espaço Eco Foundation, the activities of the Campo Limpo System have avoided the emission of 899,000 tons of CO2e to the atmosphere between the years of 2002 and 2021. In case the System had not existed and these emissions had occurred, it would be necessary to plant 6.5 million trees to offset this.

Besides the benefits to the environment that the System's existence provides, inpEV monitors the impacts of its units and seeks to continuously improve the eco-efficiency of its operations. This is the case of the new architectural project named sustainable station, which foresees the implementation of solutions such as rainwater harvesting and solar power auto-generation at the receiving units. The new design was also designed to improve productivity and ensure operator thermal comfort.

The new receiving stations at Araçatuba (SP) and Guariba (SP) were built following these principles. The Guariba unit, for example, will have its own photo-voltaic generation, where the power produced will supply the unit itself and the receiving stations in the state of São Paulo of Araçatuba, Araraquara, Ituverava and São José do Rio Preto. At the Unaí (MG) receiving station there are also solar panels that produced 83% of all power consumed by the unit in 2021.

ENVIRONMENTAL GAINS OF THE SYSTEM

EMISSIONS

899,000 tons of CO2e avoided (2002-2021), which is equivalent to 16,000 trips by truck around the World.

75.589 toneladas de gás carbônico equivalente evitadas apenas em 2021.

ENERGY

36 billion megajoules of energy that were not consumed, enough to supply 5.2 million homes during one year.

4 billion megajoules of energy saved in 2021 alone.

WATER

225 million liters of water were avoided since 2019, which is equivalent to the daily consumption of 1.1 million people.

89.8 million liters of water saved in 2021 alone.
